Professor Jack:
Several things come to mind concerning the recent tour of the Royal Plastic injection molding facility. The first of which is the diversity of their product line. It is a change of pace to see a company that is located in this area that is not completely dependent on the auto industry. I was also totally surprised at just how clean the working environment was kept. In my mind I had an idea of what an injection molding facility was like, but I was totally wrong. I was also impressed with the philosophy that Royal has chosen to adopt concerning the simplicity of their operation. Not many companies in today's world would choose to adopt the same policies. The adoption of the QS9000 quality procedures was also something that came to my attention. It sounded to me like they were soon going to be pressured into following these procedures by the auto industry. I found it to be quite interesting that they are already anticipating this, and are already beginning to prepare for the transition. I feel that the tour was both informative and well done.
