For this paper we were to use three different search engines to find web
sites that interested us that apply to our area work. I choose two that
were relatively common and then one that is probably not very well known.
-
Yahoo (www.yahoo.com)
-
Lycos (www.lycos.com)
-
Dog Pile (www.dogpile.com)
Below you
will find my results.
-
On Yahoo
-
National Tooling & Machining Association
www.ntma.org
-
An informative web page that was easy
to use. This organization is similar to SME in that it helps its members
find information and stay up on current trends in their profession.
-
Plastic Resources www.plasticresources.com
-
I thought was a good web site to understand
the wide range of tools that can be built. These range from blow molding,
vacuum forming, to injection molding.
-
On Lycos
-
Womens Advisory Committee To the Dean
of Engineering www.egr.msu.edu
-
This was an interesting page just not
what I was looking for but it did lead me to the following page.
-
The Society of Women Engineers www.swe.org
-
This was very interesting. It is similar
to the SME organization but with the focus of helping women as engineers
and also leaders.
-
East Tennessee State University, Dept.
Of Eng. www.etsu.edu/scitech/entc
-
I came across this page while searching
for different engineering department. This is the collage that I received
my undergraduate degree.
-
On Dog Pile
-
North American Tool Corporation www.natool.com
-
This site was interesting in that it
showed some of the tools that I use every day in my job. It allowed you
to look at the tools and get more information about them.
All three search engines that I
used were all helpful and easy to follow. Even the Dog Pile engine that
I had only heard but had never used was not that difficult to catch on
to how it worked. To make this page I used Microsoft Word and then
saved it as a htm file. I then did my final editing in the Netscape
Composer.
