Wood Base
010 Cut a 5" x 5" square from the stock material
with a table saw.
020 Using a table saw, cut the four 1/2" chamfers along
the top edges.
030 Drill a 15/64" through hole at the center of the
base.
040 Drill the center with a 15/16" bit to a depth of
1".
050 Drill the center with a 1" bit to a depth of 1".
060 Mill out the remaining wood to achieve a flat bottomed
hole at a depth of 1", and a diameter of 1".
070 Mill out a 1" diameter, 1/4" deep hole in the
center of the base on the bottom surface.
080 Drill two 15/64" clearance holes on the larger hole
at the proper locations.
090 Using a table saw, cut out a 5/16" x 1/8" deep
groove along the bottom surface of the base, from the center hole
to the edge of the base.
100 Cut the two 1/8" x 1/8" decorative grooves along
the four sides of the base using a table saw.
110 Sand the entire base until smooth.
120 Stain the base.
130 Again, sand the base if necessary.
140 Varnish or lacquer the base.
