The system which I built for an air hockey table controls the following things. First of all, a micro switch built into each goal detects when a goal a scored. Whenever a goal is scored, a buzzer sounds and a red light activates for 8 seconds. Also, one goal is added to the total score on the large LED display scoreboard.

A special feature of the control system is the winner lockout feature. Whenever a player scores nine goals, a small green winner light activates, and the score of the other player is locked out. The scoreboard will not again count goals until the reset or new game button is depressed.
