9.1 INTRODUCTION

 

· Some basic types of milling machines include,

  1. - Knee and Column
    1. - vertical
    2. - horizontal
    3. - horizontal with vertical head attachment
    4. - universal (table rotates in plan view) and is used for helical milling
  2. - Ram & Turret - Light weight machine tool with slotter on one end of turret. No power feeds.
  3. - Special Purpose - For production usage. Usually more rigid construction.
