November 6 - Tournament Information, Divisions and Rules

This tournament is part of the celebration of Grandmaster Park's 25th year anniversary of teaching Tae Kwon Do in the United States of America.

The number one goal for this tournament is for everyone to have fun... so please enjoy yourselves!  You are already a winner by joining in and giving it a try.   Take this opportunity to meet and get to know the other members of your Tae Park Tae Kwon Do family. 

This tournament is open to Color Belts only.

Divisions:

Divisions by belt color (not level) are divided into age groups as listed below.   Also, the 19 years and up are divided again by weight.

Red, Blue, Green, Yellow-Green, Yellow, White

White Belts - Form Only
Yellow & Yellow-Green  - Form and/or One-Step Only, no sparring
Green, Blue, Red - Form and/or Sparring

*Weight class is divided within your age group for 19 and up, Sparring Only

IMPORTANT - Please Note:

If there are less than three (3) competitiors in any division, that division will be combined with another.

Mandatory Equipment:  body armor, headgear, mouthguard, groin cup (males), shin and instep pads.  Competitor must have a proper uniform top, pants and belt.     Optional:  forearm pads

Grounds for Disqualification:
1.  Intentional contact below the waist or above the shoulders using the hands.
2.  Unsportsman like conduct by competitor or spectator.
3.  Excessive contact.

Tournament Rules: 

WTF and USA Tae Park Tae Kwon Do rules apply.

Point:  This is a semi-contact tournament.  Eliminations will be the most points scored in two one minute rounds.  One point for each of the following:

Valid Points:
1.  Legal scoring areas: 
     i.  Mid-section of the trunk:   the abdomen and both sides of the flank. 
    ii.  Face:   the permitted parts of the face using the valid part of the foot below the ankle only
2.  A point shall be awarded when permitted techniques are delivered accurately and powerfully to the legal scoring area, such a technique shall be regarded as a point.
3.  Each scoring tecnique shall earn 1 (plus one) point.
4.  Invalidation of points:  When the following are committed, the delivered technique will not be scored.
     i.  Intentionally falling, immediately after delivery of the legitimate technique.
    ii.  Committing an illegal act after delivery of the legitimate tecnique.
   iii.  Use of any of the prohibited actions.

Prohibited Acts:
1.  Penalties on any prohibited acts shall be declared by the referee.
2.  Penalties are divided into "Kyong-go" (warning panalty) scored as minus 1/2 point. 
3.  A "Gam-jeoom" shall be counted as minus 1 point.
4.  Prohibited acts:  Kyong-go" penalty:
     i.  Touching acts:    a. Grabbing the opponent,  b. Holding the opponents, c. Pushing the opponent, d. Touching the             opponent with the trunk.
    ii.  Negative acts:  a. Intentionally crossing the alert line, b. Evading by turning the back to the opponent, c. Intentionally            falling down, d. Pretending injury
   iii.  Attacking Acts:  a. Butting or attacking witht he knee, b. Intentionally attacking the groin, c. Intentionally stamping or           kicking any part of the leg or foot, d. Hitting the opponent's fact with hands or fist.
   iv.  Undersirable Acts:  a. Gesturing to indicate scoring or deduction on the part of the contestant or the coach, b. Uttering            undesirable remarks or any misconduct on the part of the contestant or the coach, c. Leaving the designated mark on          the part  of the coach during the match.

Each event will be announced.  The competitor is held accountable to be at the assigned ring after the announcement has been made.  The competition will not wait for the competitor to show.  For reasons of safety, we do not allow spectators on the floor near the ring/tournament area.  Only judges, referees, score keepers, and active competitors are allowed on the floor.

Schedule of Events:
9:00 am - 12:00 noon......Black Belt test
12:00 noon - 1:00 pm......Lunch
1:00 pm - 5:00 pm...........Color Belt Tournament
5:00 pm - 6:00 pm...........Set up for Ceremony
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm...........Anniversary and New Master Ceremony
