Motorola 68HC908
The 68HC908 series of microcontrollers is Motorola's 8-bit modern offering to compete with the likes of ["MicrochipPIC"]s and ["AtmelAVR"]s. Motorola apparently targets these devices to the automotive industry. We have had one EGR326 project use the 68HC908 (successfully!), but note that we have no in-house development support for these devices (yet). You'll have to get your sponsor to pony up the support/development tools for it.
